EDUCATION DURING THE PANDEMIC
When
the world was strike with Corona virus, our lives changed drastically. It
spread so fast making our progress slow. And we lost a lot; family, friends,
physical connection, and even the right to be with our loved ones. The people
are always mindful of the people they are with in fear of getting the virus. It
created distance between people. Our economy was also affected; malls were
closed, amusement parks were inaccessible, the churches were empty but most of
all, schools were closed.

In pursuit of education, the Department
of Education created a way for the learners to continue their studies amidst
pandemic. I, as a grade 7 student back then, transitioned from face-to-face
classes to modular learning wherein we stayed at home and be educated through
online platforms. The experience was completely different from what I used to.
Although I can see my teachers and classmates onscreen, it is still better to
see them and connect to them personally. The lessons were challenging because
the explanations were sometimes hazy and hard to understand. My educational
journey during the pandemic was not at all favorable but it is not bad either.
Having transitioned from face-to-face to online is better than to stop for a
year because of the virus. I am grateful that the Department of Education found
a way to continue our learning despite the pandemic.

The virus was a terrifying
experience because of the effect it brought to our lives. But the pandemic
experience did not stop us from learning. Even though education was very hard
and stressful during the pandemic. Still, students have the determination to
learn and succeed. Like Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful
weapon to change the world”.
